Anonymous said: I am looking to surrender a cat. Do you have any information for me?

Try rehoming the cat yourself first! During the summer months shelters are full of cats due to kitten season. Rehoming the cat yourself guarantees that it goes to a good loving home rather than being stuck in the sheltering system for an unpredictable about of time.

If I my ask why are you looking to surrender your cat?

I apologize for the large unannounced hiatus this blog has taken.

I’ll totally explain why, I started this blog in 2012 a few months after I started volunteering at the Pet Project as a way to help network animals, and setting up a queue helped a lot, I didn’t always keep up with it all the time. But since last June I’ve been formally working and volunteering with another Kansas City rescue, Dogs by Debin, which has taken up a lot of my time and is closer so I have not been volunteering at KCPP since.

Now KCPP is a great shelter and they help a lot of animals every day! Heck if you follow them on facebook, you can see how they’re expanding. But this blog is very most likely not going to be updated and probably eventually deleted.

Sorry if that bums anyone out. I will be seeing if I can start a blog for Dogs by Debin, we have quite a few less animals then KCPP does so it will be updated more.

Tadas is a sweet seven month old kitten. He is one of the most intelligent and well behaved cats that I have ever met, and everyone falls in love with him the moment they meet him. He loves playing fetch (self-taught), wrestling with his brother, and cuddling with his owners at bed time.

Two months ago Tadas was diagnosed with Advanced Patellar Luxation- a disorder in which his knee-cap is not held in place properly. This disorder causes significant pain and lameness, and his case is so advanced (stage 4/4) that surgery is his only option for a normal and pain-free life. The longer Tadas has to wait for the surgery the higher his risk for torn ligaments, arthritis, and other complications which will necesitate further surgeries.

The surgeries will cost a total of over $3000.00, and as college students, we are having a hard time finding the funds to get Tadas the surgery this sweet kitty deserves. Any donations, however small, are extremely appreciated and 100% of the funds will go directly to Tadas’ surgery and follow-up medications.

Even if you can’t donate (I totally understand) please, please, please re-blog!!

If you are a potential donor, please don’t hesitate to send an ask to http://cooltrainermaddie.tumblr.com/ I will be happy to provide proof of surgery and a breakdown of the surgical costs.

Thank You so much!
Olivia E. - Tadas’ Owner.

Frank - Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever - 2 years 3 months old
Check me out! Everyone tells me how special I am. Maybe it’s my good looks, great personality, friendliness with people and other dogs or desire to please. I sure hope an adopter notices how awesome I am real soon cause I’m very anxious to get out of here and get to know my new family. Frank is 2 yrs old, neutered, about 54 lbs and ready to go home today!

Doja Mae - Pit Bull Terrier / Mix - 2 years 9 months old
Please take me home and let me be the special companion you’re looking for. My family had to surrender me and wanted you to know it was nothing that I did. They loved me and want you to know that I would love, protect and snuggle with you just as I did with them. We would have so much fun together! I’m ready to go home with you today! Please say “Yes!”

Dash - Labrador Retriever / Mix - 1 year old
I sure like it when the volunteers come and take me for a walk. They can see how stressed and scared I am here at the shelter. They all tell me that I’m a sweetheart and very loving and that I have the cutest face. I hope my forever family finds me soon so I can get out of here and have a happy life. Dash is under 2 years old and about 37 lbs. Come meet him today!

Clara Bow - American Pit Bull Terrier/ Mix - 2 years 9 months old
I am Clara and I would just like someone to take me home that knows how to love me. I have had a rough life in my short two years and I think I deserve a safe place to live and a full belly. Can you do that for me? I would love you forever and never look back. Please come and meet me. My breed is known to be very forgiving and we just want to be happy and play! I am a pretty little girl - not too big. I’m just perfect. Hope to see you soon. XOXO Clara

Cash - Pit Bull Terrier/ Mix - 4 years old
Hi! I’m Cash! Are you looking for a sweet, gentle, handsome guy to adopt? Look no further! I’m a little shy, but really love attention. I have so many great qualities and would make a wonderful family pet. I do great on the leash, I am not too energetic, I am housetrained and I LOVE playing with other dogs. Please adopt me. You’ll be glad you did.

Dexter - Labrador Retriever/Mix - 2 years old
I am a little confused on why a fun loving, happy boy like myself is here at the shelter. My name is Dexter and I can’t say enough fantastic things about myself I did get to live in a foster home for a short while and were happy to report that I am housetrained and crate trained. I love to play with other dogs and would love a forever home with a canine friend. They think I would be a great addition to an active adopter, since I love to play so much. Squeaker toys are very interesting and I can play in water all day if you let me. With all these great qualities there must be something wrong right? Well I have to admit I might not be best for a home if you have cats - I like to chase cats. I am pretty much amazing and I am thinking about you coming to adopt me right now. Take me outside and I will show you how great I am at tug-a-war. What are you waiting for! Dexter arrived at the shelter on Oct. 1st. He is almost 2 yrs old, weighs 55lbs and was surrendered by his owners.
